Membership

Our members play a key role in running the Aberlady Community Flock.
They choose the trustees who manage the charity; they can change our constitution; and most important of all, they are the volunteers who work in the field to help keep our sheep healthy and thriving.
A key benefit of becoming a member is access to our farming outputs, including meat, fleeces and wool.
Our initial group of volunteers who have helped us from the start have all been invited to become members so they can play a full part in the successful operation of the charity.
Becoming a member
Membership is open to anyone aged 16 or over who lives in East Lothian (constitution, clause 12).
You can apply for membership by email or in writing (constitution, clauses 14 to 16), but the easiest way is to fill in our online form.
Currently there is no fee for membership.

More about membership
Please note that members can be asked to leave in accordance with our constitution (clauses 17 and 27).
Members can request a special meeting if five percent or more of them want it. This meeting must take place within 28 days (constitution, clauses 33 to 35).
Members can also agree a resolution between themselves without a meeting taking place, provided that every member agrees to it (constitution, clause 62).
