Reviewing the health and condition of the sheep

Since the sheep arrived, it’s been a busy few weeks! We’ve continued to work on the field, clearing rubbish and fencing. The flock have now started to settle in and are gaining confidence in their new environment and venturing out into the field to graze.

With the help of our fantastic volunteer vets we have also reviewed the health and condition of the sheep ahead of lambing in the next 6 weeks and all the sheep are in good condition. They scored between 2.5 and 3.5 meaning they are in good condition for lambing. We also checked their feet.

We’ve had some great feedback from our volunteers! If you’d like to get involved please fill in our Volunteer form >>

“I’m a veterinarian and have been working in the world of aquaculture now for nearly 6 years. I’ve really missed working with sheep and so I love that my kids are getting involved and learning about looking after them now too.”

“I am really enjoying building sheep checks into my week. On days I have my young son with me it’s a perfect outdoors activity and is teaching him about the responsibility of looking after animals. On days I’m working from home it’s the ideal break from my computer screen!”
